Santa Barbara Yacht Club Honors Our Veterans

The 12th Annual Santa Barbara Yacht Club Charity Regatta put the FUN in FUNdraising on Saturday, September 10! With more than 275 guests who enjoyed a day of racing, scenic boat rides, a tasty BBQ, live music, competitive silent auction, and a surprise kayak raffle, this year’s Charity Regatta raised nearly $135,000 for Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care! To view the results from this year’s Charity Regatta visit the Santa Barbara Yacht Club website here.

Thank you to all who supported the Charity Regatta by donating and sponsoring, attending the event, giving your time, racing in the regatta, or sharing your boat with spectators. This day was successful because of you! Click here to view more photos that captured this seaworthy day!

Over the past 12 years, the Charity Regatta has cumulatively raised over $1.2 million! This achievement is a testament to the successful partnership between the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, which has resulted in bringing renewed health and comfort to thousands of people in Santa Barbara.

The Charity Regatta is part of a national movement, but has become a signature event in Santa Barbara since its inception in 2005 with SBYC steering the wheel. Like the Santa Barbara Yacht Club, Visiting Nurse & Hospice care has a deeply rooted history in the Santa Barbara community, and SBYC is proud to be supporting VNHC for the 12th year running. Together, the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care have raised over $1.2 million to support VNHC’s mission to provide compassionate and trusted care to all – including those unable to pay.

In advance of the Charity Regatta, the Yacht Club hosted the “ceremonial” Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, July 19 for nearly 150 guests to thank all the generous sponsors and supporters.  This year, both organizations chose to “Honor Our Veterans” having the prestigious Celebrity Skippers, represent Veterans from the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and VNHC’s We Honor Veterans program. Both organizations are proud to honor all those who served their country.  SBYC Veterans and VNHC Vet-to-Vet Volunteers were recognized as Celebrity Skippers. Guests enjoyed moving about the room and investigating the photos of veterans in uniform, attempting to match the face with one of the Skippers. View photos of last year’s Cocktail Party here.
