Job Description Summary
This position provides non-medical personal assistant services that works with the clients and their families in this endeavor in accordance with the business standards, licensure regulations, and the VCC policies and procedures. The CNA/HHA must possess an understanding of basic nursing functions, which provide for safety, comfort and well being of the client. The CNA/HHA must be able to accept direction from the Program coordinator, yet also perform autonomously, being sensitive and responsive to the needs of the client. |

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Expectation to start work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work.
- Maintains timely, accurate and complete documentation for each client assignment.
- Reports change in client status to program coordinator immediately.
- Turns in all documentation and paperwork weekly on each Friday. In addition it is mandatory that the client service record, client notes and employee time sheet is handed in to the office at the end of each pay period.
- Is a positive contributing member of the team as demonstrated by a positive attitude, adherence to VCC values, communication, teamwork, professionalism, respect and trust.
- Assists client with personal hygiene and physical comfort.
- Safeguards patient, equipment and supplies.
- Assists client with nutritional needs and monitors records.
- Performs light housekeeping, as needed when assigned home care.
- Cleans patient unit including making of the bed.
- Takes and records temperatures, radial pulse, respiration and blood pressure if client desires.
- Utilizes techniques of positioning, body mechanics and body alignment.
- Assists with medications only. Does not administer medications.
- Provides for the safety and comfort of client.
- Provides environmental stimulation.
- Provides care as stated on the plan of care assignment form.
- Participates with Registered Nurse and / or LVN in care planning.
- Records observations, personal care as requested on home care assignment sheet
- Accepts assignments as scheduled by program coordinator.
- Understands and complies with all certification regulations appropriate to the job.
- Reports client complaints, incidents and possible risk issues to the program coordinator.
- Regular attendance with prompt arrival to work at assigned time and completion of work at assigned time.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by program coordinator/director.
- Attends any monthly meetings and inservices that are required by VCC.
- Maintains professional appearance with agency dress code standards.

Employee Requirements and Responsibilities
As an employee the CNA/HHA must adhere to the following:
- Provide information enabling VCC to verify past experience.
- Provide and maintain current CPR certification.
- Provide VCC with health status, as required.
- Attend VCC orientation.
- Maintain routine contact with VCC, informing staff of availability status.
- Accept only those assignments for which you are qualified and available.
- Comply with the policies and procedures of VCC as outlined in the Employee handbook.
- Comply with state regulatory acts and follow the California state scope of practice for CNA/HHA.
- Attend required inservices.
- Provide safe, competent, timely and quality service to VCC clients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to react independently to life threatening situations.
- Strong English verbal, reading and writing skills that are understandable to the diverse general public.
- Emotional psychological development to grade 12.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- High School candidate preferred. Minimum age: 18.
- Current State of California Certified Nurse Assistant required. HHA certificate highly desirable.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Minimum of one year recent experience preferred. Will accept less experienced candidates upon high recommendation of references.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- Ability to lift arms above head.
- Ability to bend.
- Ability to walk up one flight of stairs without assistance of another.
- Ability to walk one mile; either all at once or throughout the day.
- Ability to transfer at least 170 pounds.
- Ability to push/pull 200 pounds.
- Ability to sit for one hour.
- Visual acuity.
- Hearing capacity to assess body sounds, (i.e., blood pressure).

HOURS
Non-conforming pattern. Variable hours. May be occasional overtime as directed by Program Coordinator. Available to work weekends as per pre- arranged schedule. While working for VCC the CNA/HHA is expected to assume complete responsibility for transportation to and from each job. |
